From teens and seniors to full-time moms and military (both active and retired) to police officers, fire fighters, teachers, and those just looking for something different, CrossFit can be for YOU. We’ll modify the movements and intensity to fit YOUR current abilities. We promise it’s not as scary as you might think!
We have a philosophy when it comes to fitness: THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS. We believe in teaching people the importance of longevity. There is no such thing as an overnight success.
We emphasize the importance of mechanics, consistency, and intensity (in that order). All of our classes are coach-led to help keep you safe and guide you to the best hour of your day. Your job is to come in, WORK hard, have FUN, and leave HAPPY!
We understand that group classes aren’t for everyone. If you prefer to train in a 1-on-1 setting, or if you are part of our Group Classes, and want to work on specific skills, we also offer 1-on-1 personal training.
After meeting with you, you’ll be set up with the coach to best meet your needs. We’ll come up with a plan, determine your goals, and work together to reach them.
When we think about fuel, we think about “energy” or “calories.” While it is true that food contains the macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fats) that contain “energy” and “calories,” it can be so much more than that.
Would you put low quality gas in a high-performance race car? No, you would have to choose a really high-quality or high-octane fuel. So why would you treat your body any differently?
If you are looking to develop your own nutrition habits based on your lifestyle, then you have come to the right place. Our NASM Certified Nutrition Coach (NASM-CNC) has the knowledge and abilities to help you design an individualized plan based on your personal needs. Whether you have a specific goal in mind, or you are simply curious what adding a nutrition aspect to your fitness can do, our nutrition coach can be your resource.
We will use a trial and error method to help you get where you want to go by introducing a new way of thinking about food as so much more than just fuel. This is an approach with a mission to help educate, inspire and empower you to making better, healthier, and more balanced choices in your everyday life.
It is important to realize that a lifestyle change is not something that happens overnight, but it is something that will have lasting effects for years. Working with our certified nutrition coach will be taking a step toward taking responsibility of your own health and helping you achieve the goals you have been putting off or told yourself you would never be able to do on your own.

FUN & EXCITING
We offer something for kids of ALL ages, from 2 years old to high school. Our Kid Fit program focuses on making fitness FUN. Our Lions (2-3yo) “run, jump, and play” as they climb up, over, under, and move around objects. We also work on hand-eye coordination, balance, and confidence (to name a few). The Leopards (4-5yo) build upon that as they run, jump, push, pull, lift, climb, swing, and more. During our Tigers class (6-9yo), children will learn basic CrossFit movements. Their workouts begin with no weights – sometimes weighted movements are slowly introduced into the workouts, but only when the kids are ready. After the warm-up, the class will work on a specific skill for the day. Skill work is followed by a workout that uses movements learned in class. The class wraps up with a game played at the end. Our Tweens build upon the movements from our Tigers class, with the additional of barbells and higher level skill work.

Our classes always fill up quickly!
The main goal of our SilverFit program is LONGEVITY. We want you to live a long and healthy life! For our 55+ age group, SilverFit is a low-intensity workout designed to improve your quality of life on a daily basis. You will experience cardio workouts with light resistance training aimed to help you continue to move every day. We want you to be able to easily stand up and sit down on chairs and couches (and the toilet). You’ll learn how to safely pick things up and put them down without injury. Designed with an older athlete in mind, our SilverFit classes provide a more holistic approach to general fitness and helping you move independently while improving balance, flexibility, strength, mobility, and more.
YOGA & AGILITY
A big part of gaining strength is also gaining flexibility. Yogility classes are a fusion of yoga and mobility, offered to de-stress and meditate and find direction both on and off the mat. We like to think of yoga as the yin to ourCrossFit yang. One known for its high intensity and the other for its calm, quiet, and introspective practice, they can go hand-in-hand as we strengthen the mind-body power. Come join us on the mat and improve your flexibility, boost immunity, decrease stress, help you sleep better, and promote feelings of well-being.
Our mobility room upstairs is also available throughout the week for current members.
KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Cost: $200 for up to 10 children (not including the birthday boy/girl)
$10 for each additional child
1.5 hour party led by a CrossFit Kids certified trainer [plus an assistant depending on the number of children] – an additional 30min of free play can be added for $50 to make it a 2 hour party.
45min of games, relay races, obstacle course, rope swinging/climbing, dodgeball + 45min for food/cake/presents/etc. upstairs.
You provide invitations, food/beverages, decorations/tablecloths, plates/napkins/utensils/etc. Refrigerator and microwave available on site. Access to the facility 30min prior to the start of the party.
Waivers must be completed for each participant.

We offer over 25 class options each week, starting at 6AM some days and ending as late as our 6:45PM class. Be sure to check the schedule for specific class times.
Our facility is comprised of 6,400 square feet downstairs that includes the main workout floor,four bathrooms, member seating area, member storage, coaching lounge, and kids area. Upstairs, you can find our yogility room along with other multi-purpose rooms and a shower.
We have the top of the line equipment, and lots of it, from Concept2 rowers, assault bikes, and ski ergs to Rogue rigs, plates, barbells, kettlebells, and more!
While we do not currently offer childcare, there is a designated 15’ x 15’ fenced area next to the workout floor where your child/children can hang out during classes. We also have classes for your little ones, starting at age 2.
a little about the a2o Fit
“In the scenery of spring,
nothing is better, nothing worse;

Translated from a Japanese haiku (so the syllables don’t match up), there was a lecture on this poem and the zen mind by Alan Watts. A friend was talking about this one day, that those who are truly zen don’t judge a differentiation between inferior and superior people. We don’t think “Oh, I’m of superior intelligence than those folks who think of beer and TV.” This is just our form of life, as it is, in the present. THE OAK IS NO BETTER THAN THE ACORN. And this is how fitness should be: all ages, all skill levels, all body types. Everyone can find a place to fit, exactly as they are right now. They can grow into their own version of an OAK, whatever that may be, which will be just as amazing as the ACORN.
Maryland’s state tree is the white OAK.
Maybe that means you choose one-on-one personal training. Maybe our CrossFit classes are more your style. You might be older and prefer our Silver Fit classes or have younger ones to join our Kid Fit program. Whatever form of fitness you choose, the point is that you choose what works for you.
Amanda, our owner and coach, began CrossFit when she first moved to Southern Maryland in 2013. She was teaching high school science full-time and searching for motivation to get in the gym (and maybe make some new friends in the area). CrossFit changed Amanda’s life and she eventually found herself wanting to do more. She obtained her CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Kids certification and spent pretty much every day at the box. After putting together an application and being selected to attend Marine Corps Officer Candidate School for summer 2016, Amanda spent 7 weeks at “summer camp” but returned home with an abscess in her lungs and a hole in her heart. She left teaching high school and has yet to look back. She opened, co-owned, coached, and managed another local affiliate for almost 3 years before branching out on her own to bring additional coach-led fitness opportunities to northern Calvert and southern Anne Arundel County.
Where did CrossFit Panthera come from? Amanda is a crazy cat lady who still loves science, so it seemed fitting to name the CrossFit side of a2o Fit after the scientific genus that covers the big cats: lions, tigers, leopards, and jaguars. These animals are the only cat species with the anatomical structure to roar.
The black panther is actually a color variant of any Panthera species. Black panthers in Asia and Africa are leopards while black panthers in the Americas are jaguars. White panthers can actually be a white cougar (North America), white jaguar (South America), or white leopard (elsewhere).
