I can carry my six year old around the house, up and down the stairs without problem. I can also keep up with his limitless energy (most of the time.)
CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
I moved to the DMV area in 2007 after graduate school to start a career in government. A former competitive dancer for 15 years, I found it difficult to find a consistent fitness program that challenged me and kept me committed. I met Coach Kayla and regularly took her group fitness classes and finally followed her over to CrossFit in 2018. “The gym is my happy hour,” is a true statement. Coming to the gym for at least an hour each day has become the outlet for maintaining not only physical health but mental health as well. Eventually, my fascination with the movements, constant seeing progress, and curiosity around all things CrossFit, I got my L1 in August 2021. I live in Owings with my husband, son, and four (yes, four) cats. I am unapologetically a fan of all Pittsburgh sports.
Early on in the pandemic was a true challenge - the feelings of the unknown and isolation really took a toll. It was during this time I truly started to appreciate fitness as a tool for not only improving physical health but mental health as well. I took the time at home to really focus on improving the basics - checking in on my mental health, improving my sleep habits, taking the time for mobility, and maintaining a routine that kept me truly healthy.
I love learning about the technique and logic behind all things (especially movement), and I am looking forward to sharing that with others.
